An interesting contender in the Testosterone Therapy market
Now owned by VIVUS, Luramist is an interesting approach to Testosterone delivery hoping to develop and commercialize what they call a MDTS or Metered Dose Transdermal Spray. Being developed and studied for a treatment in women experiencing low sexual desire or Hypo Sexual Desire Disorder this is another solution to keep your eyes on. With the promise of being very small and extremely simple to use the product may put up a run in the industry if made available in the US as the studies have shown positive results in it's ability to alter the number of sexual encounters in comparison with a placebo group.
Status on this one
We have received numerous emails for information on where to buy Luramist but like other products of the pharmaceutical nature this one has yet to be FDA approved for use in the United States. From reports and in our opinion other products such as Flibanserin or BioSante's LibiGel appear to be further along in the process of gaining regulatory approvals need for distribution in the US. However, a VIVUS partner by the name of Acrux has conducted a couple of Phase 1 clinical studies on Luramist to research and demonstrate that the delivery system (MDTS) is able to provide a sustained delivery of the Testosterone hormone over a one day period and restore the physiological blood levels to about mid range in women with a lack of Testosterone which in turn could improve sexual desire. In their Phase 2 studies results were impressive with the product delivering twice as many sexual events in women who were pre-menopausal. This is great news for us if they can complete their agreed FDA program and advance the development of the treatment. Until then, there are obviously the natural and homeopathic solutions that are easily researched on our site.
