LibiGel General Information
LibiGel is a testosterone hormone therapy being developed and researched by the pharmaceutical firm called BioSante. It has been under development for more than 3 years now with multiple clincal studies and trials to support it's effectiveness and safety. The treatment is being developed to aid and treat pre and post-menopausal women suffering from a lack of libido or symptoms of Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) or Hypo Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD). There are reportedly over 40 million women suffering from one of these conditions and the estimated medicinal market for a treatment is valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars. LibiGel Clinical Trials
BioSante has funded multiple case studies and clinical trials to support their reseach in developing the testosterone cream. Currenlty they have released information regarding their most recent trials which were included in press releases about Phase II clincal trial results. There is some pretty postive information here considering that Libigel has shown to be much more effective than the placebo groups in effectiveness studies. There have also been numerous studies to record adverse side effects and nothing that medical professionals would expect to be out of the ordinary has been recorded at this point in time. BioSante has stated that they will continue to research effects and effeciency of the hormone treatement on over 5000 women. This treatment is not for sale at this time. According to BioSante they hope to have an official product available in 2011 but it is purely speculative at this point as they must firt complete their research and development and submit for an NDA from the FDA. In the United States the FDA regulates the pharmaceutical industry and their subsequent products and deliveries from medical professionals. While some doctors are prescribing off-label treatments similar to LibiGel there is debate and controversy surrounding this practice of distributing non-authorized prescription hormone treatments.
