What is female impotence?
Female Impotence is actually Female sexual arousal disorder. This is also known as frigidity. Female sexual arousal disorder is a condition when there is decreased, insufficient, or absent lubrication in females during sexual activity and sexual contact in females. It causes inability to experience sexual pleasure or as pain during intercourse The American Psychological Association (APA) classifies female sexual problems as mental disorders: loss of sexual desire or arousal, discomfort during intercourse, diminished blood flow to the vagina, trauma-related aversion to sex, and the inability to achieve orgasm. Decreased libido occurs due to many reasons which vary from one person to another. It may happen due to fatigue and number of responsibilities.
Causes of female impotence.

There are two theories related to female impotence and female arousal disorder. 1. Vascular theory- This theory says that there is diminished blood flow to the pelvic region which causes female sexual arousal disorder. The reason may be aging, some disease condition, stressful condition, some medication, hypoactive sexual desire. 2. Hormone theory- This theory says that this is due to decrease in sexual hormone which is testosterone, in male and estrogen in female. Replacement of these hormones in some females leads to greater sexual desire. Diagnosis Female sexual arousal disorder is categorized into 1. Low sexual desire- When there will be constantly lack of sexual desire and sexual drive. 2. Sexual arousal disorder- In this condition the libido is intact but there will be problem in arousal or maintaining arousal during sexual activity. 3. Orgasmic disorder. Sometimes there will be desire and arousal during sexual activity but problem in achieving orgasm. 4. Sexual pain disorder- There will be pain during sexual contact or intercourse.
Treatments for impotence.
Treatment for female impotence may be done by the following method 1. Educating the female about the anatomy, arousal, and response; where blood flow, hormone levels, and sexual anatomy are normal. Proper understanding and communication between the partner, foreplay and sexual talk will improve the stimulus and secretion. 2. Chemical and Hormonal Treatments - It may cause dramatic improvement in those whose level of these hormones are low. Before the treatment the level of hormones are measured. These may be low due to age, surgery and hormonal dysfunction.
