Female Sexual Dysfunction

Female Sexual Dysfunction is a Serious Condition

Female sexual dysfunction sometimes known as female sexual disorder or FSD is a serious medical ailment so in order to accurately write and display solid information on this dreadful topic I spent an afternoon on a conference call with two of our consultants, Silvia Bendao, Ph.D. and Professor Alexander Hoffmensin to ask the tuff questions and get the straight answers for this Q and A article.

Interview Question and Answer Session

Q. What are the most common symptoms linked to FSD?

There are many surveys and clinical analysis that have been done in the last few years to study decreased sexuality or female sexual disorder. However, a lot of them are bogus and biased studies sponsored by laboratories wishing to establish a market for their research or product offerings. If you narrow it down to the authentic research of women between 20-60 years of age the following appear to be the top symptoms of this condition in order:

  • Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) better known as a low female libido or decreased sex drive
  • Inhibited Sexual Desire (ISD) or sexual aversion and sexual apathy
  • Orgasmic disorder or the inability or difficulty to achieve orgasm or multiple orgasms
  • Painful intercourse sometimes linked to vaginismus, more commonly a result of vaginal dryness

Q. What causes decreased libido or lack of sexual desire?

Well that's a long answer. There are many things that can affect the female libido. Like you have listed on one of your articles on the website there are three general areas where we commonly see issues: Psychological, Physical, and Chemically. Women are complex machines and to perform at our prime we need to be in optimal physical and mental health. Even at our best though chemical imbalances whether normal or not can have serious impacts. Here's a list of the most detrimental factors in FSD:

  • Severe or manic depression
  • Anxiety or stress levels
  • Sexual performance anxiety or lack of interest in sexual partner
  • Self esteem issues
  • History of abuse (sexual, physical, or mental)

  • Diet and weight issues (underweight, obese, or malnourished)
  • Illness and ailments like cancer, hypothyroidism, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, and STDs have serious impact on sexual health
  • Serious physical injuries or disabilities
  • Lifestyle choices such as: lack of exercise, smoking, excessive drinking, drug usage

  • Levels of Testosterone, Estrogen, Progesterone and other hormones not in balance
  • Hormonal therapies including hormonal contraception that impact natural chemical levels in the body
  • Medicine and drug use can also impact chemical balances
  • Menstrual cycle and Menopause are two of the most common instigators in female libido

Q. What can we do to combat this ailment?

There are many things women can do to fight the symptoms of the disorder. For starters you obviously need to maintain a well being and physical healthiness. Plenty of exercise combined with eating right and taking health supplements will never do anybody wrong especially in bed. Also, ensuring that your emotional health is well and you are enjoying a happy relationship with your partner. A lot of times tension in a relationship is the number one roadblock to sexual fulfillment and if you are not attracted to your partner emotionally and physically your body will not become aroused or excited during sexual encounters.

While that covers the general area of health, sometimes no matter how healthy and happy you are there may be conditions whether hormonal or physical that can put a hold on sexual enjoyment. Female sexual dysfunction in its most extreme case really requires a visit with your health provider. If you experience pain during intercourse you may have symptoms of vaginismus or another condition. Typically though, there are small symptoms that lead to big problems. The most common complaint is a lack of natural vaginal lubrication, sensation, and arousal. While there are hormonal treatments utilizing testosterone or progesterone you can also look into natural libido enhancement products. Female libido enhancer products are very popular for a good reason. They are safe and if you do the research and select the right solution they are pretty effective without the time, cost, and stress of more intensive therapies on the market today.

Well thank you so much for taking the time to answer some questions for our readers, any other comments?

Thank you! There are a lot of scams out there and it's great to see a website dedicated to weeding out the bogus information. I would like to finish on the note that while there are a lot of great products and techniques to improve female libido and ensure sexual happiness the key is to enjoy life, sex, and the relationship that surrounds it all. I hope to pop in from time to time to keep up on the site and check out the latest reviews. Take care, and good luck to all the women out there with female sexual dysfunction.
