Let me start off with a little about myself. I am a 42 year old woman that has been divorced for 9 years. I have 2 children that are living on their own so I find myself in the house by myself way too often. I have used dating services in the past and gone to dating events and even a cruise for singles. When approached by Feminine Review to do a site review on FriendFinder I was kind of scared but interested. I'm not going to lie, at first I felt a little bit awkward about going to a site that was dedicated to what it seemed like sex crazed people and swingers. I originally said no. However, after going out with some friends a few days later for drinks and conversation I brought t up with them and they all laughed at me and basically pointed out that we were out drinking at the bar trying to accomplish the same thing. So I wrote back to Nancy at FR and said yes, I'd do it.
They set up my initial account user-name and paid for a 3 month Gold membership.I'm not sure what the difference between Silver and Gold is but there appears to be some more features in Gold and you are allowed to have more photos.
I completed my profile which asked me about:
- Body type and appearance
- Lifestyle
- Sexual preferences
- Partner preferences
- Encounter preferences
- A few unique questions that were I guess to attempt and profile me
I decided I was too shy to post pictures so I start to browse by my area and reached out to a few people just to say hi Wow! I got a lot of emails in my FriendFinder mailbox over the next few weeks. I had quite a few that appeared to be spam but lots of legitimate hellos There were some that struck me as way to desperate and I immediately blocked them but did reach back to some and started some conversations through the site's mail system. I wasn't ready to actually talk to somebody on the phone at this point but did have about 7-8 chat sessions. I also spent a lot of time in the forum talking to other women about dating, sex, and life in general which was nice (I still have some friends that I kept from this trial). The general consensus was that if I didn't post some photos that I'd only get losers contacting me. It seems there are 2 types of women on the site. Those that are VERY hungry and those looking for friends and the occasional fling. It's very easy to tell by the photo and profile if you know what I mean. I decided to post 3 pictures of myself dressed nicely at dinners and a picnic.
After the first month I was a little more brave and actually had a conversation with a few gentlemen. I was very surprised to find they weren't all perverts or sit at home losers but very professional men with careers that kept them too busy to hit the dating scene seriously or like me a little older and just looking for some needed attention in the intimate category.
Over the next month and a half I went on 8 dates. I started all of my dates at Starbucks after trading phone numbers on Friend Finder and moved forward with 2 of the people I met to additional dates. I'm currently seeing one of the gentlemen that I met and while I like to keep certain aspects of my life private I'm very happy at night, at least a couple times a week that is. I'm very thankful to Feminine Review and FriendFinder not only because I found somebody that I really like but because the experience gave me the courage to feel like a young woman again with the strength to say I do enjoy sex dammit and I'm not too old to give it up. I encourage anybody in a similar situation to try it out at least. Don't be afraid or taken by nude pictures and people who are a little bit looser with their lifestyle. It's not completely full of nymphos and swingers but also a lot of people who are looking for a special someone with no strings attached or the humility of in person dating.
